Orlando L. Ramirez

Children's book illustrator Orlando L. Ramirez, best known for his work in "Cheech The School Bus Driver"(2007), "Captain Cheech"(2008), and "Cheech and the Spooky Ghost Bus"(2009) written by actor and comedian Cheech Marin.

Orlando was born and raised in Carolina, Puerto Rico. While Orlando had a passion for art at early age, he never envision himself making a career of it. At Central de Artes Visuales High School, he took a variety of art classes, including cartooning, painting, sculpture, architect and graphic design. After graduating from Central in 1990, he moved to Florida and enrolled at Ringling School of Art & Design, graduating in 1994. He was recruited by greeting-card giant Hallmark Cards, based in Kansas City, Missouri. He was initially hired to design and illustrate humorous greeting cards for Hallmark's contemporary card line.  In 2000, Orlando Ramirez moved to Virginia to work for AOL as a Sr. Designer and Art Director, and had the opportunity to work on a great variety of interactive and multimedia projects.

Orlando Ramirez is now based in Stuart, Florida, where he continues to work as a professional multimedia designer, illustrator and helps run an Interactive-driven multimedia-design agency, Pinwheel Media, LLC. With his background in traditional art and digital techniques, he has produced many illustrations for publishing, the Web/Internet and advertising industries. 

Orlando's artistic expression is characterized by his narrative style, his confident use of bold color, and charming, expressive characters.  Orlando is represented in children's publishing by Tugeau2, Inc.
